Working at RMDC
Rocky Mountain Day Camp doesn’t just hire counselors, we hire role models. Everyone on our staff loves working with children and they are also specialists in the activities they teach. It is the goal of the Rocky Mountain Day Camp team to make a positive impact on every camper, every day, every summer.
“My kids love you and look up to each of you more than you know, and I am thrilled they have such fantastic role models.”
– Julia, Camp Mom

All Rocky Mountain Day Camp staff members go through a rigorous interview process prior to being selected. Staff members participate in a comprehensive orientation and training program before camp begins. All staff members are required to complete training (CPR, First Aid, Standard Precautions, etc…) prior to the start of camp.
If you are interested in becoming part of our RMDC team please click Join Our Staff link and fill out an online application. If you have questions regarding employment please contact Tyler Fravel at email@example.com.

When and where is RMDC orientation?
In order to build the cohesive community that we are known for, we first begin with our staff. All staff are required to attend a four day orientation prior to opening day of camp. This training begins the Wednesday before the start of camp and is held locally.
Due to a prior plan, I cannot make one of the days of orientation, is that okay?
We do ask that you do everything in your power to attend our staff orientation. If this is not possible, we do have alternative options to get you the information you will need in order to be successful.
Am I paid for the orientation?
How and when do I get paid?
Staff are paid via direct deposit four times throughout the summer.
How many hours should I expect to work?
Staff hours are from 8:15am – 3:45pm, Monday – Friday.
Camp hours are from 8:50am – 3:15pm, Monday – Friday.
Do I get time off during the summer?
We do our best to honor requests for time off. In the perfect camp world we would love for you to spend all 10 weeks of the summer with us. This helps build the bond between camper, staff and family. We understand you may have other plans. We ask that you let us know as soon as possible when this happens. We will do our best to accommodate all requests for time off, but can’t guarantee it.
Are there opportunities to work past the summer?
Yes! Rocky Mountain Day camp runs school programs and many other special events all year long including birthday parties, corporate events and much much more! We are the sole sponsor of the University of Colorado Chip’s Kids Club and would love your help at CU games including: football, basketball, and soccer.
Does my sibling/family member get a discount on camp?
Yes! All families of current staff receive a 50% discount on enrollment based on availability.
What is the camp alcohol/drug policy? How is it enforced?
I am only available for part of the summer. Should I still apply?
