Update on 5/21/20:

Dear RMDC Families,

It is with a heavy heart we inform you that BVSD told us this morning they will not allow anyone to access the school buildings through July 31. This means we will be unable to hold Rocky Mountain Day Camp this summer. We know how disappointing this is for all of our campers, our staff and the entire RMDC community. We are thankful to all of you for your support and relentlessly positive attitude throughout these unprecedented times!

On behalf of the RMDC staff, we promise that the next summer we’re together will be GREATEST SUMMER EVER! We continue to wish all of you health and happiness. Enjoy the Memorial Day weekend and look for our communication on Tuesday.

Sincerely,
David, Holly, Tyler and the RMDC Summer 2020 Staff

Update on 5/16/20:

Session 1, Weeks 1 – 3 (May 26 – June 12) have been CANCELLED at all three locations. We are hopeful to open Week 4 (June 15) at all locations. Please check back for updates or contact us at hello@rockymtndaycamp.com.

Update on 5/01/20:

We are thinking of our camp families and hope everyone is doing well. Many of you have reached out to us and we would like to address your questions and concerns in this message.

Will there be camp this summer?

As of right now, yes. It is our full intention to open camp this summer if we are able to do so. Today, the Department of Public Health notified RMDC that they would be issuing operating guidance to summer camps once the “Safer at Home” ordinance has been in place for two weeks.

Today, BVSD confirmed they are awaiting this guidance before determining how school buildings may be used for summer camps this summer. The State of Colorado has stated they would like LICENSED summer programs to occur in their buildings with the health and safety of the community in mind. As a licensed summer day camp RMDC falls into that category.

Long story short, the good news is: the Colorado Department of Human Services wants us to open. We have been told we need to wait for more details, which we know as well as you do, is very difficult.

If/when RMDC opens what will it look like? Will we need to social distance, wear masks, etc…

There is no doubt summer 2020 will look different than it has in the past. We do not yet know what that will look like. The health and safety of our campers, community, and staff is our top priority. We are prepared to follow all guidelines and recommendations from the CDC, state and local health officials, the Colorado Office of Early Childhood, and the American Camp Association in order to ensure a safe environment. These guidelines have not yet been put into place regarding summer camps.

Can I still switch or add weeks?

Yes. As always, weeks are fully transferable. If you are interested in adding, or switching weeks, please send an email to hello@rockymtndaycamp, and we are happy to help you.

This feels like a lot! What if I no longer wish to attend RMDC, or RMDC cancels some or all of camp?

Rocky Mountain Day Camp is a small locally owned business with a full time staff. Summer camp planning and expenses are year-round, and costs are incurred months before the summer begins. This is why summer camps ask for a deposit. A summer without camp would be financially challenging to the continued operations of RMDC.

We respectfully ask that if you or RMDC needs to cancel some or all of your sessions you consider taking a credit towards summer 2021 instead of a refund. If you choose to do this we guarantee you 2020 pricing for summer 2021, as well as first choice of weeks of enrollment. By choosing a credit, you are also enabling us to continue to provide employment to our full time staff.

We understand that these are very uncertain times and you may need a refund. In this case, we have changed our cancellation policy for this summer and will be waiving the $25 cancellation fee. We want you to feel confident about your decision to send your camper to RMDC. All refund requests will be processed by August 31.

We will continue to keep you updated as new information comes our way. Please reach out to us at hello@rockymtndaycamp.com if you have any questions. We know waiting is difficult. It is very difficult for us too. We appreciate your patience with us as we navigate these changing times. The most important thing we’d like you to take away from all of this is that as of right now, camp is still ON!

Remaining Balances will not be charged on May 1, 2020. Once we have our summer plans set, we will let you know about charging remaining balances.

Warmest regards,
David, Holly and Tyler
