The idea for Rocky Mountain Day Camp was born when David and Holly Hansburg’s first child, Paxton, was old enough to go to summer camp. The Hansburgs explored options available in Boulder County and were surprised to see how limited they were.
Many summer options in the Boulder area are specialty camps where the focus is on one activity all day. Other camps have many children of differing ages grouped together in daily activities. Most camps are “just another program” run by a larger entity.
Holly and David, both career educators, decided that families in Boulder County needed a multi-week traditional summer day camp. This kind of camp creates a spirited community where children build self-esteem, make new friends and create memories that last a lifetime.
The Hansburgs work on Rocky Mountain Day Camp year-round. This allows them to hire the most qualified staff, create the most diverse program, and focus on providing your child with an amazing summer experience unlike any other camp.
At Rocky Mountain Day Camp we build confident, happy, well rounded children.
We accomplish our mission by providing a wide range of age appropriate activities that are fun and challenging. Boys and girls participate in daily activities and sports separately from each other. Our campers spend every day with a staff of role models who are experts in the activities and sports that they teach. Campers at Rocky Mountain Day Camp hone the skills they already posses. They also learn new skills in activities only offered at Rocky Mountain Day Camp.
Campers at RMDC make new friends in a safe environment that provides a sense of belonging. Rocky Mountain Day Camp is Boulder County’s first and only traditional summer day camp for boys and girls ages 5-14.
At Rocky Mountain Day Camp we believe it is important to give back to the community around us. The following is a list of organizations and schools we are proud to have donated to or sponsored:
